VCPI is accepting applications for the position of Content Development Specialist

What VCPI needs:

VCPI is looking for a dynamic, creative, and talented individual to join our team as a Content Development Specialist.   This person will be responsible for bringing ideas to fruition in finished products and services, developing and delivering public safety training programs (classroom and online) and services that reflect VCPI’s standards for excellence. The person in this position will be tasked with a variety of research and development projects dealing with critical and emerging issues in public safety.  This person will work both independently and as part of an extensive team, including staff, instructors, and other partners in the development and delivery of national programs.   

Are you the right candidate?

First, do you have the basic requirements?

  • Proven curriculum development experience
  • Master’s degree in instructional design, education, criminal justice, public administration or related field is strongly preferred.
  • Willingness and ability to learn and utilize existing instructional design processes and templates
  • Experience and strong ability as an instructor/presenter
  • Technology and computer skills necessary to support effective curriculum development
  • Ability to be both self-directed and work well as part of a team
  • Very strong organizational, interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Law enforcement/public safety experience required
  • Some experience with developing and/or administering online training preferred

VCPI is accepting applications for the position of Training Services Manager

What VCPI needs:

VCPI is looking for a dynamic, ambitious, creative, and talented individual to join our team as a Training Services Manager. This person will be responsible for building and sustaining VCPI’s calendar of in-person training events to include the scheduling and coordinating of grant-funded and contract-supported training initiatives that advance public safety nationwide. This position will not be responsible for developing curriculum or providing instruction.

Primary responsibilities will include: assisting in the national assessment of local training needs, outreach efforts, and individual requests for assistance; matching VCPI resources to the specific needs of public safety organizations and communities, both proactively and in response to specific requests; building and maintaining effective relationships with public safety professionals and other VCPI stakeholders nationwide; and working closely with staff, consultant instructors, host sites, participants, and others to ensure the delivery of successful, productive training events.

Are you the right candidate?

First, do you have the basic requirements?

  • A minimum of five years of aligning training/educational solutions to the needs of others and managing the implementation of those solutions from the initial identification of need for assistance through the evaluation.
  • Experience in managing the extensive logistical details of event planning, delivery, and evaluation, including participants, instructors, materials, site logistics, and communications.
  • Experience working with the public safety industry preferred.
  • Experience in developing business relationships and partnerships and managing contracts.
  • Experience in and commitment to providing exceptional customer service, caring for relationships and building long-term, effective partnerships.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to be both detail oriented and operate with a global perspective.
  • Bachelor’s degree is required. Master’s degree is preferred.
  • Experience in working with CRM software and event management platforms.
