A national program that explores how community-based efforts to prevent terrorism and counter violent extremism (CVE) fit into the broader homeland security mission. This program includes three training courses certified by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), National Training and Education Division (NTED).

Virginia Victim Information and Notification Everyday (VINE) is an automated service that allows people affected by crime to locate an offender in jail, and receive notifications about any changes in custody status. This free, anonymous service is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, by phone, internet or mobile app.

The COPS Office Training Portal provides a convenient way for law enforcement professionals and community partners to access interactive online training in emerging public safety topics and serves as a gateway to a variety of multimedia community policing resources at no cost.

An online resource to assist law enforcement agencies in their efforts to enhance public safety through the implementation and integration of effective policing strategies related to violent crime reduction; organizational culture; officer safety and wellness; and measuring and sustaining success.

The Virginia Sheriffs’ Institute offers the Certification Program to recognize the continued individual professional development of Virginia sheriffs and deputies. Certification through this voluntary program provides recognition of a sheriff or deputy’s commitment to excellence, life-long learning, and advancement of public safety as a profession.
